How to Decorate the Walls and Floor of A Teenager Girl's Bedroom

As a teenage girl, your room is really important for you, for it's where you go when you want solitude, some privacy, or a break from the hustle and bustle of a teenage girl's life. Your room is not just a place in which you rest; it's a place that reflects your personality and taste.

Needless to say, the style of your room is largely reflected in the decoration that you use for the walls and the floor. Today, I will share with you some tips that will help you decorate the walls and floor of your bedroom.

1. Choose a Style and a Color Scheme

You start by choosing the color palette. Choose a color that you feel will reflect your personality, and at the same time, make sure that it's not a color that you will get sick of anytime soon. Below are some options that you can consider; hopefully, this will make the process of choosing a color scheme easier.

  • Soft Pastels: Lavender, baby blue, light pink, mint green, soft peach, or pale yellow. Those colors are the right ones if you are looking for something that is calming and inviting.
  • Neutral Tones: White, beige, taupe, ivory, or light gray are perfect for reflecting your style if you intend to run wild with the decorations.
  • Muted Shades: Soft hues like dusty rose, blush pink, muted teal, misty blue, soft mauve, or sage green are what you are looking for if you want a youthful yet sophisticated color.
  • Patterns and Wallpapers: Floral prints, geometric patterns, polka dots, stripes, or subtle textures can be quite charming. And if you are a lover of vintage, then go for a classical pattern.

2. Repaint Your Room

We can safely say that a repaint is essential for a complete makeover of your room.Talk to your parents about your plans for your room, then choose the color that you like (I assume by now you have an idea which color pallete would be more suitable for your bedroom). After that, all you need to do is:

1. Sample the Colors

  • Take a paintbrush and apply a small patch of the paint you chose to the wall.
  • Wait for it to dry, then observe how it looks throughout the day.
  • If you like it, then you move on to the next step.

2. Start Your Work

Now that you've made the final decision about the color, it's time to start the actual work. Prepare the necessary tools and start painting!

3. Wall Decor

Use the space on the wall to reflect yourself. There are many options, such as beautiful tapestries, posters of your favorite albums and artists, photo collages of your precious memories, stars, or butterflies.

4. Hang String Lights to Create a Soft Glow

A key step in refurbishing your room is choosing the right lighting. The perfect choice for this, I would say is string lights, why?

  • String lightsare not just lights; they are part of the decoration; they add extra beauty to your room.
  • String lightsare versatile and can be hung everywhere, from the ceiling, wall, mirrors, and curtains to headboards and furniture.
  • Most importantly, string lights give a soft glow that will make your bedroom more calming and relaxing.

5. Add a Soft Rug and Throw Pillows to Make a Lounge Space

Having a nice, comfortable lounge was my dream as a teenager. I wanted a small, cozy space in which I could enjoy reading my books. You can have that easily; empty one corner, bring in a soft, cute rug, then throw in a few comfy, large pillows, and there you go; your cozy little space is ready.
