How to Hang Christmas Lights in a Bedroom

Most of us tend to overlook decorating our rooms for Christmas. But just because you decorated the rest of the house does not mean you should skip your own bedroom. You do not want your room to look dull while the rest of the house is twinkling with Christmas lights. Today, I will share with you how to hang Christmas lights in your bedroom.

Part 1. Hanging Lights from Your Ceiling

One option is to hang Christmas lights from the ceiling; for that, you will need the following:

  • Adhesive hooks, command strips, or ceiling clips to secure the string lights.
  • Measuring tape and a pencil to take your measurements and draw the pattern you want.
  • Ladder or a step stool.

1. Opt for Your Power Supply

Before you buy your Christmas string lights, check the proximity of the power source to the area you want to adorn. If there is a power source nearby, you can opt for plug-in string lights, but if it's farther away, battery-powered Christmas lights are a great alternative.

2. Test the Lights

When the Christmas lights arrive, check them all to make sure they are all working. You do not want to find that after you hang them.

3. Plan Your Layout

To have nice-looking and organized string lights, plan your layout using a pencil firsthand before you start hanging the string lights.

4. Use Hooks or Strips to Fix Your Lights

If you have hooks, place them on the spots that you marked with your pencil, then place the string lights. If it is adhesive tape, then secure the string lights using the tape as you go.

Part 2. Hanging Lights on Your Curtains

How about curtain lights to go along with the string lights on the ceiling? For that, you will need:

  • Adhesive hooks or clips
  • Measuring tape
  • Extension cord (if the power source is not nearby)

1. Measure the Curtain Area

Measure the width of your curtain in order to know the length of the curtain light you will need.

If your curtain lights get too long, you can drape them back and forth to create a compact and magical look.

2. Use Adhesive Hooks or Clips

Secure the Christmas curtain lights to your curtain using small adhesive hooks or transparent tape.

3. Hang the Curtain Lights

After you secure the main string to the hook, untangle the individual branches and distribute them evenly for an elegant effect.

Part 3. Hanging Photos on Your Christmas Lights

Blend your memories with the decor! To hang photos on Christmas lights, you will need:

  • Photo clips
  • Printed photos
  • Clear tape or adhesive hook

1. Choose the Lights and Location

Warm white string lights are a favorite for many, as the warm color gives a dreamy effect and blends well with pictures.

Use a pencil to sketch out the placement of the string lights, ensuring you have a clear plan before hanging them.

2. Hang the Christmas Lights

Fix hooks or clips to the spots you marked and run the Christmas lights through them. Alternatively, if you have wall decor such as bookshelves, you can wrap the string lights around those structures.
